The Jeep Dealers of Queensland are supporting Trevor Gillmeister in his trek from Townsville to Brisbane.
The league great is raising money for asbestos cancer victims, of which his father Ron is one, by walking more than 1300km.
The ‘Taking An Axe to Asbestos’ campaign will see Gilly walk an average 48km a day for 28 days. He set off from Townsville on September 26 and will arrive in Brisbane on October 27, almost five years to the day since his father died.
The Queensland Jeep Dealers, partners of the Queensland Rugby League and Queensland State of Origin team, have provided two support vehicles for the walk - a recently released Jeep Cherokee and a Jeep Grand Cherokee, along with fuel to keep the vehicles on the road for the 1300km journey.
