IT MAY be hard to remember when we see him help to guide the Maroons on the field at Origin time; but Queensland star Johnathan Thurston started his football career as a junior rugby league player.
“One of my earliest memories of rugby league involves my family,” Thurston says of his younger days learning the game.
“When I was five years old; I was the ball boy for my Dad’s team and so it was from there that I quickly grew to love the game.”
To help all new and returning registered players make the most of their season – the Queensland Rugby League has again created a My Season booklet for junior players – and this year has been produced in a convenient format which is downloadable from the web.
You can print out the pages and fill out the My Family, My Team-Mates, My Team Draw and My Club information pages in this booklet; or you can save the address to your favourites as an easy-to-use resource.
You can also print out the player posters and the NRL and Intrust Super Cup Tipping Pages to put on your wall and see who amongst your friends and family can best predict the outcomes of games this season.
There is also helpful information for parents including important insurance information, a calendar of major rugby league events in the state and contact details for QRL and NRL Development staff.
As JT says: “rugby league is a great game for boys and girls of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes.”
So get involved and do your best with the help of My Season.
