Biography
A powerful backrower, Jeremy Schloss was a standout for the Gold Coast Seagulls / Chargers and became FOG #101 in the 1997 Origin opener.
Born and bred in Ipswich, Schloss played for Brothers in the IRL, as a centre, and represented Queensland at under-19 level. A former St Edmunds student, he was signed by Gold Coast Seagulls and made his first grade debut in 1994.
Even though victories were hard to come by, Schloss quickly emerged as a player to watch, with his line breaking ability, combined with deft ball skills.
Across the 1996 and 1997 seasons, nobody scored more tries for Gold Coast than Schloss with 13. He was a bench forward throughout Queensland’s 1997 campaign.
No-one deserved his place in the Queensland team more than Jeremy.
Phil Economidis Gold Coast Chargers coach
He also played a huge role in the Gold Coast Chargers' march to the ARL finals, scoring a try in the 25-14 win over Illawarra in the elimination semi at Parramatta Stadium. T
he Chargers' efforts in 1997, earned Phil Economidis the ARL Coach of the Year Award. Schloss played for South Sydney in 1998-1999 and was recruited by North Queensland Cowboys' coach, Tim Sheens for the 2000 season, after Souths were excluded from the NRL.
He retired from football at the end of the 2000 season.
Schloss, who attained his referee's certificate while still playing, has spent much of his post-playing career running a thoroughbred breeding business.
