Biography

Dunamis Lui played junior footy for Norths Aspley Devils and Brisbane Brothers and represented Queensland at under 17 level.

An accomplished cricketer and volleyball player, the apprentice mechanic was signed by the Brisbane Broncos in 2008, and came off the bench in the National Youth Competition grand final loss to Canberra. Lui made his NRL debut for the club in Round 5, 2010.

Lui played 32 games for Brisbane, before signing with Manly in 2014. Lui was selected to play for Samoa against Fiji in a mid-season Test and then represented the country of his heritage in the Four Nations tournament, at the end of the year, when he played a Test against New Zealand, in Whangerei.

In 2016, Lui signed with St George Illawarra, playing 10 NRL games, before joining the Canberra Raiders.

I guess that's the best word for it, the perseverance of Dunamis to stick through it.

Lui came off the bench for the Raiders in their 2019 NRL grand final loss to the Roosters. His consistently good form for Canberra saw him selected for Queensland in 2020, and he made his Maroons' debut in the front row, in Game II of the State of Origin series, in Sydney.

After 169 NRL games, Lui returned to Queensland in 2022, to play for Redcliffe Dolphins in the Hostplus Cup. Later that year he signed a mid-season contract with the New Zealand Warriors where he played four games.

Lui is not currently contracted to an NRL club for the 2023 season and has played 173 NRL games, and has represented Samoa on the international stage on six occasions.
