Biography

A Beenleigh Lions' product, Corey Norman was groomed as the long-term five-eighth replacement for Darren Lockyer at the Brisbane Broncos.

Lockyer was Norman's hero, with Norman once describing the former Queensland and Australian skipper as a 'freak' of a footballer.

A keen touch footballer and Oztag player in his younger days, the multi-skilled Norman played five-eighth and fullback for the Broncos under 20s.

A graduate of Keebra Park High School on the Gold Coast, Norman made his NRL debut for Brisbane at fullback, in 2010 and played 62 NRL matches for the club, before switching to Parramatta in 2014.

Norman was the Broncos' first choice five-eighth in 2012, following Lockyer's retirement, but Scott Prince wore the number 6 jersey in 2013.

I have always been confident in my own ability. Who doesn't want to play State of Origin in a decider? As a kid that's all you want to do.

Corey Norman FOG #201

During his time at the Eels, Norman was player of the tournament at the Auckland Nines, and also represented the Prime Minister's XIII in Papua New Guinea.

He was signed by St George Illawarra in 2019, and was selected for his Queensland debut in the third and deciding Origin match that year, in Sydney. New South Wales won a thriller 26-20, with Norman setting up the first try of the match - for Felise Kaufusi - from a beautifully placed grubber kick.

Norman announced his retirement at the end of the 2021 season, but regained his hunger for the game, and signed with French club, Toulouse Olympique, in April 2022.

During his time in the NRL, Norman played 228 games, scoring 36 tries and kicking 39 goals and five field goals.
