Biography
Corey Horsburgh was born in Caboolture, and grew up playing Australian rules football where he was a part of the Brisbane Lions Academy between the ages of 14 to 16.
Horsburgh converted to Rugby League at the age of sixteen where he played for the Caboolture Snakes, before joining the Redcliffe Dolphins where he would win a junior Rugby League Premiership in 2014.
Corey Horsburgh: 'I've been a footy head my whole life'
In 2016, Horsburgh was signed by the NQ Cowboys NYC team where he played alongside fellow Maroons player Kalyn Ponga.
After two seasons at the Cowboys, Horsburgh signed a contract with the Canberra Raiders as a development player in 2018. Horsburgh was rewarded with selection in the Queensland U20’s team, scoring a try in Queensland’s 30-12 victory over New South Wales.
Horsburgh on Maroons debut: 'I had fun'
In 2019, Horsburgh made his NRL debut in Round 1 against the Gold Coast Titans and went on to play 22 games for the Raiders, including the 2019 Grand Final defeat against Sydney Roosters. The young forward capped off an impressive debut season with selection in the U23 Junior Kangaroos side.
During the 2021 NRL Season, Horsburgh signed a two-week loan deal to the Canterbury Bulldogs where he played two games before returning to the Canberra Raiders.
"Corey's knuckled down, focused on his footy and focused on what's important in his footy and you see that regularly every week, so that's the reason why Corey's earned the opportunity to play for Queensland."
Billy Slater FOG #142
After a consistent year of footy, Horsburgh was selected to make his State of Origin debut for the Maroons in Game III of the 2023 series, where he played 21 minutes off the bench at Accor Stadium.
2024 was a tough year for the Raiders forward only playing a handful of games, due to injuries, suspension and being demoted to NSW Cup. Horsburgh finished the season strong after being recalled to the Raiders side in Round 25, and helping the Canberra based club win their remaining three games.
