Biography
A Redcliffe junior, Clinton O'Brien toured England with the Australian Under 19 side, after being signed by Easts Roosters in Sydney, where he played under the coaching of another former Redcliffe player, Mark Murray.
O’Brien won an Under 21 premiership with the Roosters in 1993.
The side was coached by Barry Russell, but O'Brien and co-prop, Adam Starr had been recruited by Murray. Although Queensland born and bred, O'Brien's form for the Roosters, in under 21s and first grade, saw him picked in the New South Wales' under 19 side the same year.
He played with South Queensland Crushers in 1996, and made his Origin debut from the club, the following year.
Clinton showed enormous courage to battle on, after he was concussed tackling 'Spud' (Mark) Carroll.

He came off the bench in the 15-14 loss to the Blues in Game II in Melbourne, and then started in the 18-12 win in Game III in Sydney.
Southport born, O’Brien moved to the Gold Coast in 1998, to play with Carrara based Chargers.
Following the demise of the Chargers, he was signed by Newcastle Knights, and the pinnacle of his club career came in 2001, when he was part of the club's 30-24 grand final win over Parramatta.
His playing career finished with Wakefield Trinity in England, in 2003. O'Brien's father, Brian, was a Redcliffe sponsor for many years.
