Biography

A Kawana Dolphins' junior, Casey McGuire attended Caloundra State High from where he was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team in 1997, playing in the centres against a touring British Amateur Selection.

A South Queensland Crushers' scholarship holder, he signed with Parramatta when the Crushers folded at the end of the 1997 season. McGuire made his NRL debut for Parramatta in Round 22, 1998 against Penrith. He returned to Queensland to play with the Broncos in 2001 and became a 'Mr Fix-it' for the club because of his amazing versatility.

McGuire could play hooker, lock, halfback, five-eighth or centre with equal aplomb. His versatility saw him chosen as an interchange player for Queensland for Game II and Game III of the 2005 State of Origin series, following the withdrawal of Tonie Carroll through injury.

Casey is quiet and unassuming, but he plays with plenty of fire and purpose.

McGuire also came off the bench in the Broncos' 15-8 win over Melbourne in the 2006 NRL grand final. The following year he joined French club, Catalans Dragons, playing four seasons in Super League, and captaining the club at different stages.

He declined an invitation to play for France under the residency rules, and returned to Australia to finish his senior career where it began - at Parramatta. He played a total of 150 matches in the NRL and 99 matches in Europe.

In retirement, McGuire has had a number of different roles, including that of an accounts manager, and also as a game development officer for the Broncos in Central Queensland.

Casey's father, Danny is a QRL director, and a former Rockhampton Brothers and Brisbane Wests' first grade player.

Danny is also a life member of the Kawana Dolphins, where Casey started his football journey.
