Biography
A former Wide Bay and Country representative forward, Bob Kellaway played with Brisbane Souths and Brothers, as well as Ipswich Jets, and had two seasons in England with Bradford Northern.
Kellaway, a tall forward with a great burst of speed, was chosen for the Queensland State of Origin side in 1982 and 1984, from Brothers and Souths respectively.
He represented Queensland against Great Britain from the Maryborough club competition in 1977, and also played against New Zealand, in 1984.
Kellaway played in the 1979 and 1984 Brisbane Grand Finals for Souths, under Wayne Bennett, but was on the losing side both times.
He played under Bennett at Brothers from 1980 to 1982.
Kellaway played for Combined Brisbane in their 12-11 win over Easts Roosters at Leichhardt Oval, in the final of the 1984 National Panasonic Cup knock-out competition. Former Test forward, Bob McCarthy coached Brisbane.
Running out at Lang Park at any time is special, but there was a great feeling of elation being part of Origin.
Bob Kellaway FOG #27
Kellaway finished his top grade career at Ipswich Jets, with former Test halfback, Tom Raudonikis his coach.
Kellaway later coached at the Jets, before moving to Toowoomba, where was fitness trainer for the University club, and turned out in first grade, in the centres.
