Biography
Pat Carrigan was born in Brisbane and attended school at St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace where he was school Captain. Carrigan played his junior footy with Brisbane Tigers before he was later signed by the Brisbane Broncos.
Carrigan joined the Broncos in the NYC U20s competition in 2016, and off the back of his form was selected in the Queensland U18s side. The following year, Carrigan enjoyed another solid year for Broncos U20s and was was named at Prop in the NYC U20s Team of the Year.

In 2018, Carrigan continued his rise with Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Hostplus Cup. Carrigan was named Captain of the Queensland U20s and lead the side to a 30-12 win over New South Wales. Later that year Carrigan was selected in the Junior Kangaroos team who went on to claim a 40-24 victory over the Junior Kiwis.
Carrigan made his NRL debut for the Broncos in Round 5, 2019 against the Wests Tigers and finished the season having played 19 games.

In 2020, Carrigan was named co-captain for the Broncos over the opening two rounds, and quickly became a key leader in their forward pack. Carrigan finished the year being named Player of the year and Players Player alongside Payne Hass, and was also awarded the Kevin Walters award for Broncos Most Consistent player. Carrigan capped off a breakout year with selection in the Queensland Maroons 27-man squad, but did not make his debut.

Carrigan succumbed to an ACL injury in 2021, and returned from injury the following season in career best form. Carrigan was selected to make his debut for the Queensland in Game 1 of the 2022 series and went on to win the Wally Lewis Medal as player of the series. The Broncos forward capped off a huge year winning the Ron McAulliffe Medal as Queensland's player of the series.

The Broncos forward finished off a huge year being named in the Kangaroos squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. Carrigan came made his international debut for Australia in game 1 of the tournament against Fiji.
Carrigan took his game to new heights in 2023, becoming a leader of the Broncos forward pack and elevating them to premiership contender status. Carrigan played all three games for the Maroons, enjoying back-to-back series victories for Queensland.

The powerhouse forward continued his run of form, leading Broncos to their first Grand Final appearance in eight seasons. Carrigan was named at Lock in the 2023 NRL Team of the Year. He capped off a milestone season with selection in the Kangaroos squad for the Pacific Championships.
Despite a mixed year for his club side in 2024, Carrigan continued to show why he's one of the games premium forwards playing 22 games and averaging a huge 170 run metres per game, his most of any season to date. Carrigan played in all three games for the Maroons and capped off the season winning his second Paul Morgan as the Broncos best player, as well as the Forward of the Year and Players Player awards. The Broncos lock was later selected to represent the Kangaroos in the post-season Pacific Championships.
